PhD positions available at IBMP Strasbourg, France

There are two PhD positions available in the group of Philippe Giegé at IBMP, Strasbourg. Both research projects deal with plant mitochondria gene expression.

Research will rely on an integrated strategy combining functional and mechanistic studies, i.e. using reverse genetic approaches such as genome editing, virus induced gene silencing, next generation sequencing methods and structural approaches such as X-ray crystallography and cryo-EM.
More precisely, research projects will be on:

"The functional characterisation of translation initiation in plant mitochondria" (with P. Giegé)
https://emploi.cnrs.fr/ job offer "UPR2357-PHIGIE-002"

"The functional and structural diversity of NYN domain nucleases" (with A. Gobert)
https://emploi.cnrs.fr/ job offer "UPR2357-ANTGOB-001 »

Research projects are described in details on the « emploi.cnrs » portal, where you will be able to apply to these positions.

NSMB-News & Views article features our recent publication

A Nature Structural and Molecular Biology News & Views artcile by Jacob W. Weaver and Alexander Serganov (NYU, School of Medicine) describes the importance and impact of our recent publication in the same journal. Our research participation and collaboration to answer an important open question in the field of RNA biology and tRNA-mediated gene expression regulation is a great achievement for our group and established a fruiful collaboration with top US labs at NIH and Stanford. You can read more details here.

70th Congress of HSBMB-Best presentation and poster awards

The outstanding presentation by Giorgos Kyriakopoulos KRASG12C oncogenic signaling affects translation initiation rate was awarded the best presentation award. In addition Nikoleta Giarimoglou's Poster on how species-specific domains of S. aureus glyS T-box interfere with transcriptional attenuation, our collaborative work with Jinwei Zhang's Lab at NIH, was awarded the best poster award at both the HSBMB Young Scientists Forum and the main meeting. Congratulations to everyone that contributed to the execution of such excellent work.
